About

I've long been obsessed by the interconnectedness of body and being. This obsession began at 13 and lead me down a path of training to be as strong as I could possibly be. I started training people out of my parents garage at 16 and studied exercise science at the University of Connecticut, eventually becoming a certified strength and conditioning coach. After 10+ years of heavy weight training, I recognized my body couldn't move freely. It was very strong through certain ranges and positions but lacked freedom and spontaneity. In my training practice I noticed similar restrictions in my clients. Slowly I began to incorporate practices such as yoga, gymnastics training, movement flows. This helped tremendously, though I recognized there were still parts of me that seemed stuck. Locked. Rigid. Unchanging. In pain.

I had a deep longing that there must be a way to work with these parts of myself, and upon seeking I discovered massage therapy. This opened me up a whole new understanding of the therapeutic effects of manual therapy. During my training in massage I gravitated towards deeper work with a focus on injuries and chronic pain. This led me to discover structural integration (S.I.), a style of bodywork that involves a series of sessions designed to organize fascial layers, integrate fascial adhesions, work with chronic pain and physical traumas.

Seeing the tremendous benefits in my own body after receiving a S.I. 10 series I pursued a two year paid informal study with my practitioner to develop a rudimentary understanding of the Basic 10 Series of Structural Integration with the intention of practicing for 5 years before completing a formal certification process (Anatomy Trains: starting fall 2025).

I've taken a course in Bone Work: Integrating Bone Fascia with Sharon Wheeler; I've received work from 3 different practitioners who studied directly under Dr. Rolf (the creator of Rolfing). I completed the last course that Erik Dalton taught in Costa Rica a month before he died and was lucky enough to feel the transmission of his sacral work. I am currently pursuing Erik's certification in Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy and always seeking the next path of education and wisdom from masters in the field.
